Autism Care Demonstration: Moving
Health Net Federal Services, LLC (HNFS) can help with transferring applied behavior analysis (ABA) services to a new contractor should you move to another TRICARE region because of a Permanent Change of Station (PCS).
Moving From the TRICARE West Region (HNFS) to the TRICARE East Region (Humana Military):
- Contact HNFS' Autism Care Demonstration (ACD) customer service team to notify us of your move date and ask that HNFS transfer the beneficiary's ABA-related documents to the TRICARE East Region contractor, Humana Military. Within 10 calendar days of your request, we will send Humana Military the beneficiary's ACD-related documents, including copies of the ABA referral, treatment plan and assessments.
- If you were assigned an Autism Services Navigator (ASN) and move to the East Region, you will remain eligible for an ASN in the new region. Note: Your ASN will contact Humana Military and connect with your East Region ASN to coordinate care for 30 days before and after your transition to the East Region.
- If you have not been assigned an ASN, you may be eligible for case management services to assist with transferring care. Case management nominations can be made online or by contacting the ACD customer service team.
- Contact Humana Military for more information about receiving ABA services in the East Region.
Moving from the East Region (Humana Military) to the West Region (HNFS):
- Contact Humana Military to notify them of your move date and ask that they send the beneficiary's ABA-related documents to HNFS – the contractor in the TRICARE West Region. Within 10 calendar days of your request, Humana Military will send HNFS the beneficiary's ACD-related documents, including copies of the ABA referral, the treatment plan, and assessments.
- When your Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS) enrollment has been transferred to the West Region, contact HNFS to request an initial ABA assessment. Please let us know whether you already requested Humana Military send the beneficiary's ABA documents to us. Please note, HNFS is unable to authorize an initial assessment for ABA until the beneficiary is listed in DEERS as living in the West Region.
- If you were assigned an ASN and move, you remain eligible for an ASN while you continue to meet eligibility requirements. Note: Your assigned West Region ASN will connect with your East Region ASN and coordinate care for 30 days before and after your transition to the West Region.
- As long as they are not past due, we will honor Humana Military’s ABA referral and required program requirements and authorize an initial assessment. All beneficiaries who transfer from the East Region must receive a new initial assessment and meet all ACD requirements before approval of treatment.
Moving Overseas (International SOS) from the West Region (HNFS)/Moving from the West Region to Overseas:
When moving overseas from the West Region or to the West Region from overseas, the procedures are the same as those listed above, except for:
- HNFS' ACD customer service team will coordinate with the overseas contractor, International SOS.
- If the beneficiary transfers from overseas to the West Region, there is no requirement for a 30-day overlap of coordination between ASNs. The beneficiary will automatically be assigned an ASN in the West Region upon meeting enrollment criteria.
- If the beneficiary transfers from overseas to the West Region, the Parenting Stress Index Fourth Edition, Short Form (PSI-4-SF) or the Stress Index for Parents of Adolescents (SIPA) Profile Form and the comprehensive care plan will not be mandatory in the initial transfer packet.
