How Is COPD Diagnosed?

Your doctor will diagnose COPD based on your signs, symptoms and test results. Your doctor:

  • Will ask about your risk factors and family history.
  • Will ask about your symptoms.
  • May do lab tests, such as lung function tests, a chest x–ray or CT scan, and blood tests.
