Diabetes Care
According to the American Diabetes Association, more than 25 million people in the U.S have diabetes. Diabetes is a disease that can lead to serious health problems and premature death. However, there are steps you can take to control and manage your diabetes to help prevent serious complications.
About Diabetes Care
All adults (ages 18 through 75) with Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes, should have at least one HbA1c (blood glucose or blood sugar) test and one LDL-C (bad cholesterol) test each year. There are other tests you may need as well, such as eye and foot exams. Consult with your doctor as to which ones are right for you.
- HbA1c Testing. The HbA1c test gives you a picture of your average blood glucose control for the past two to three months.
- LDL-C Testing. Low-density lipoproteins (LDL) or bad cholesterol, can lead to a buildup of cholesterol in the arteries.
