Care Options for Patients Exposed to 2021 Red Hill Fuel Spill in Hawaii

Tuesday, August 13, 2024

The Red Hill fuel spill, which occurred in O’ahu, Hawaii on Nov. 20, 2021, resulted in spilled fuel entering the Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam water system. If you are seeing TRICARE beneficiaries who were exposed to the fuel spill and believe they may be experiencing symptoms related to the spill, you can find resources to help you with patient treatment on the Defense Health Agency’s Red Hill Public Health Information web page.

For patients on-island, the Red Hill Clinic located in the Naval Health Clinic Hawaii’s Branch Health Clinic – Makalapa offers medical assessments. Patients are encouraged to contact the clinic to schedule an appointment.

For those off-island, refer to DHA’s Healthcare Provider Recommendations to Support Patients Exposed to the November 2021 Fuel Release at Red Hill for more information.
