Ambulatory Surgery (Same day)
Ambulatory surgery (same day) is covered when done at a hospital-based or freestanding ambulatory surgery center (ASC) that is TRICARE-certified. Services performed in a freestanding ASC must meet specific requirements. Please review these requirements prior to rendering care. The surgery must be medically necessary and for a medical condition that is covered by TRICARE. Claims for non-reimbursable services performed in the ASC will be denied.
Note: TRICARE adopted the Medicare ASC reimbursement system effective Oct. 1, 2023. See TRICARE Reimbursement Manual, Chapter 9, Section 2.
