Smoking Cessation Counseling
Smoking cessation counseling is a covered benefit to assist beneficiaries who want to quit smoking. All TRICARE beneficiaries who live within the United States, except those eligible for Medicare, are eligible for smoking cessation counseling.
Beneficiaries interested in additional resources, a text message program, SmokefreeMIL, is available and delivers quit support texts directly to a beneficiary's cell phone. Beneficiaries can sign up to receive encouraging messages and tips to help beat cravings, and even have the option to reply back with how they are feeling that day. Learn more on our Smoking Cessation page in the Wellness section of our website.
Note: Smoking cessation counseling sessions are not a mental health service; however, mental health providers may be involved in offering these services.
