Annual Applied Behavior Analysis Provider Training for 2023
Tuesday, December 20, 2022
As of Jan. 1, 2022, all Autism Corporate Services Providers (ACSPs) and sole applied behavior analysis (ABA) providers participating in the Autism Care Demonstration (ACD) must complete an annual training per the guidelines outlined in TRICARE Operations Manual, Chapter 18, Section 4. In early January 2023, Health Net Federal Services, LLC (HNFS) will assign ACSPs/sole ABA providers HNFS’ Annual Autism Care Demonstration Training for Applied Behavior Analysis Providers training module. We will email you a unique username and password to access the module and receive credit for completing the training.
What does the training cover? The training provides a comprehensive overview of the ACD, covering topics such as:
- Eligibility and diagnosis
- Referrals and authorizations
- Medical documentation requirements
- Claims
- Billing
- Audits
Who is required to take it? ACSPs and sole ABA providers are required to take this training; however, we encourage you to share it with all ABA providers and staff in your practice. In addition to the link provided in your assignment email, we will post the 2023 training module and a printable version on our Annual Provider Training page by Jan. 1, 2023.
How will I know when my training has been assigned? HNFS will begin assigning the training in batches throughout the first quarter of 2023. Look for an email from “TRICARE-West Online Learning” that will include a link to the training module and specific instructions, including the due date.
How do I log in to the training to get credit? Prior to receiving the training assignment, you will get an email from “TRICARE-West Online Learning” with your unique username and password. Save this email! You’ll need these log in credentials to get credit for completing the training.
How long will I have to complete the training, and what happens if I don’t complete it? Once assigned, you will have 90 days to complete the training. You can stop and save your progress, as needed. Important: This is an annual requirement, so even if you completed the training in 2022, you must complete it again in 2023. Providers who miss the 90-day deadline will be subject to a 10% penalty that will be applied to all claims billed under your Tax ID (including all practice locations) starting on day 91. This penalty will be remedied once you complete the training; however, the penalty will remain for the days you were not in compliance. We will send reminder emails to help you stay on track.
What if my email address has changed? If you need to update your email address or delegate the training to someone else in your provider group, please email ACDNetwork@hnfs.com or contact our ACD customer service line at 1-844-866-WEST (follow the prompts and select option 5).
